چکیده

We review the role of the generalized gaussian solution to the MigdalKadanoff renormalization group for SU(N) lattice gauge theories, and point out that it can be continued down to very low values of the inverse coupling 8. We thus explain the long distance stable line of actions observed in numerical investigations of SU(Z), and propose a simple SlJ(3) mixed action which should exhibit improved scaling behavior. *Work performed under the auspices of the United States Department of Energy. +On leave from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Tel-Aviv University. Time-Dependent Real-Space Renormalization Group Method

In this paper, using the tight-binding model, we extend the real-space renormalization group method to time-dependent Hamiltonians. We drive the time-dependent recursion relations for the renormalized tight-binding Hamiltonian by decimating selective sites of lattice iteratively. The formalism is then used for the calculation of the local density of electronic states for a one dimensional quant...

String tension and removal of lattice coarsening effects in Monte Carlo Renormalization Group

We study the computation of the static quark potential under decimations in the Monte Carlo Renormalization Group (MCRG). Employing a multi-representation plaquette action, we find that fine-tuning the decimation prescription so that the MCRG equilibrium self-consistency condition is satisfied produces dramatic improvement at large distances. In particular, lattice coarsening (change of effecti...

Block renormalization group transformations and overlap fermions

In this preliminary work, I provide the outline of an argument (leaving the full proof to a future publication) that there exists a valid renormalization group blocking transformation which converts the continuum fermion action into a Ginsparg-Wilson lattice action. I construct the blocking for the massless overlap operator as a specific example, indicating how other Ginsparg-Wilson lattice Dir...

Improving the signal – to – noise – ratio in lattice gauge theories

Renormalization of composite fields is employed to suppress the statistical noise in lattice gauge calculations. We propose a new action which differs from the standard Wilson action by ”irrelevant” operators, but suppresses the fluctuations of the plaquette. We numerically study the Creutz ratios and find a scaling window. The SU(2) mass gap is estimated. We prove that the contributions of the...

The Heavy Quark Self-Energy in Nonrelativistic Lattice QCD

_ The heavy quark-self-energy in nonrelativistic lattice QCD is calculated to O(cx,) in perturbation theory. An action which includes all spin-independent relativistic corrections to order v2, where v is the typical heavy quark velocity, and all @n-dependent corrections to order v4 is used. The standard Wilson action and . _ an improved multi-plaquette action are used for the gluons. Results fo...
